Back in September 2024 we started a slow journey through John's Gospel.
Our aim was to discover as much as possible of what John wanted us to learn about Jesus.
John sets out his hopes for us, his readers, toward the end of his Gospel...
"Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (John 20:30-31)
We're now deep into 2025 and still on our Journey through John's Gospel, and we're trying to capture at a record of some of the things that we have learned so far in a series of short videos which summarise a number of the key things we have noticed as we have journeyed with John. We hope they are helpful. As the collection grows we are dividing them up into sections to which you can link from the following list that we are building over time:
This third set of short videos moves us on into the main section of John's gospel.
They cover a series of encounters that different people had with Jesus,
all beginning and ending in the town of Cana in Galilee.
John 2:1-12
Jesus attends and transforms a wedding in Cana
John 2:1-12
The first signs of faith in Jesus are seen at the wedding in Cana
John 2:1-12
What might John mean when he refers to signs?
John 2:13-25
Jesus attends the festival and causes controversy in Jerusalem
John 3:1-15
Jesus receives a visit from a religious leader while in Jerusalem
John 3:16-21
Jesus declares hope for the World
John 3:22-36

John 4:27-42
Jesus greets the woman's neighbours in Samaria
John 4:43-54

You can link here to the earlier videos that cover John's opening verses or "overture" and to John's bridging links that chart the opening week of Jesus' ministry.
We hope these short videos, and the questions we have posed on our journey, might be a useful resource to use in your own personal times spent getting to know Jesus better.
You might also find them to be useful as short prompts for conversation, especially if you try reading through John's Gospel with a friend. These resources might be really helpful for that:
On that note, if you happen to be in our neighbourhood, and think you might be interested in reading through John's Gospel over a coffee (other beverages are available), feel free to get in touch via email.
